The current downloads available on akufi.org are the result of two related projects, the Berber keyboard project and the fonts project. Both the keyboards and the fonts share a set of assumptions (see the .pdf document of the proposal here) about the Unicode encoding and the writing of Berber in Latin and Tifinagh scripts.

The keyboard project aims to supply Unicode keyboard drivers for easy typing of different varieties of Berber, including Tuareg, in Latin script and in Tifinagh.

The fonts project aims to convert existing non-Unicode Tifinagh fonts to Unicode, and to produce demonstration Tifinagh fonts with different letter repertoires for regions such as Algeria and Niger.
